Rfotofolio has opened its 2026 call, and this year’s brief is a love letter to the physical photograph: “Photography as an Object” — folios, books, three-dimensional work. A photograph you can hold in your hand.
That theme is no accident. Rfotofolio was founded in 2012 by Connie and Jerry Rosenthal to build a photographic community, became a nonprofit in 2014, and has championed the printed photograph ever since — including through its annual Rfotofolio Grant, awarded since 2015. This year’s call is that mission in its purest form.
The rules are refreshingly strict: all work must be done by you — no AI, full stop. Send seven images (1240px on the longest side, JPEG, no watermarks) by email to rfotofolio@rfotofolio.org with “Rfotofolio Call 2026” in the subject line, plus a paragraph about the work. This year’s juror is artist and educator K.K. DePaul.
Why enter: selected artists are featured on rfotofolio.org, folded into future interviews and publications, and added to The Photographers Index — and many of the photographers Rfotofolio champions first came to their attention through this very call. Entry is effectively free (a donation is optional). Deadline: November 22, 2026, midnight CST. Selections announced December 20.
