The Gomma Photography Grant is back for its 13th edition, and it remains what it has always been: a grant for photographers the industry hasn’t noticed yet. Submit one cohesive body of work — 8 to 24 images, any genre, any medium — and the first prize is €1,000.
Gomma started in London in 2004 as a magazine with an out-of-the-box streak, became a bijou book publisher (its first title, MONO, collected black-and-white work from the likes of Daido Moriyama and Anders Petersen), and launched this grant in 2014. It runs with no sponsors and no national funding, and it judges the work rather than the name attached to it. What the jury looks for is consistency, personality and courage.
The rules suit working photographers: ongoing and unfinished projects are welcome, joint submissions are allowed, and photographers anywhere in the world can enter. AI-generated images are not accepted. Beyond the €1,000 first prize there is €1,600 in total cash, Best Documentary and Best Black & White awards, and the kind of exposure through Gomma’s publishing network that past winners credit with moving their careers up a level.
Entry at the final deadline is €35 for up to 24 images, via Submittable. Final deadline: Thursday, November 5, 2026.
