Time is running out to enter the Wellcome Photography Prize 2027. The global competition for health and science photography closes to entries on 21 October 2026 — that’s only days away.
Run by Wellcome on a biennial cycle, the prize invites photographers everywhere to submit images that explore how health is experienced, represented and understood — from personal stories of care and illness to scientific discovery and biomedical research.
PRIZES
- Each of the three category winners: £10,000
- Each of the other 22 finalists: £1,000
- Total prize fund: £52,000 (about $70,000)
- Free to enter, open to anyone in the world, no affiliation with Wellcome required
CATEGORIES
- Striking Solo Photography — single images capturing a compelling health-related moment or perspective
- A Storytelling Series — collections of photographs telling a meaningful narrative about health and human experience
- The Marvels of Scientific and Medical Imaging — images revealing unseen aspects of life, health and research through scientific and medical imaging
